He married Henrietta Hooper 22 Nov 1905. Henrietta was the daughter of Robert Hooper and Emily Rebecca Louisa Fellingham.

John Johnson and Henrietta Hooper had the following child:

3 i. Rachel Henrietta³ Johnson was born 24 Mar 1907. Rachel died 13 Jan 1983 in Lower Hutt, at 75 years of age. She married Richard Harold Dry in Wellington, 2 Sep 1931. Richard was born in Te Awaiti, New Zealand 15 Sept 1897. Richard was the son of John James Dry and Martha Keenan. Richard died 29 June 1976 in Lower Hutt, at 78 years of age.
