He married Rose HELLIER 14 Aug 1869. Rose was the daughter of Richard HELLIER.

Walter Abraham JAMES and Rose HELLIER had the following children:

3 i. Agnes³ JAMES was born in England 1871.

4 ii. Henry JAMES was born in England 1873.

5 iii. Alice Rose JAMES was born in Exeter, UK 8 Jan 1874. Alice died 4 Jun 1952 in Hastings, New Zealand, at 78 years of age. She married Alfred CRAWFORD in Congregational Church, Napier, New Zealand, 25 Dec 1900. Alfred was born in Christchurch 21 Sep 1873. Alfred was the son of Thomas CRAWFORD and Caroline CHECKLEY. Alfred died 20 Jul 1937 in Hastings, New Zealand, at 63 years of age. (See Alfred CRAWFORD for the continuation of this line.)

6 iv. Frank JAMES was born in New Zealand 18 Feb 1876.

7 v. Louisa JAMES was born in New Zealand 16 Aug 1878.

8 vi. Carrie JAMES was born in New Zealand 12 Aug 1882.

9 vii. Albert Jack JAMES was born in New Zealand 21 Sept 1884.

10 viii. Alfred William JAMES was born in New Zealand 26 Dec 1886.
