He married twice. He married Heather Gail Wilson in Invercargill, NZ, 20 Feb 1965. Heather was born in Invercargill, NZ 27 Aug 1947, the daughter of David Lancelot Wilson and Mary Stewart Mennie. He married Elaine Anderson in Clyde, New Zealand, 1980, the daughter of Basil Douglas Anderson and Margaret Findlay.

Robert Thomas Carrick and Heather Gail Wilson had the following children:

26 i. Teryl Heather⁶ Carrick born in Invercargill, NZ 25 Jul 1965.

27 ii. Robert Henry Shaun Carrick born in Tuatapere, NZ 24 Nov 1966. He married Sanna Marie Kuklinski in Palmerston North, NZ., 30 May 1992. Sanna was born in Taupo, NZ 15 Jun 1969.
