He married Rose Margaret EBBETT in Hastings, NZ, 23 Jun 1937. Rose was born in Hastings, NZ 31 Mar 1905. Rose was the daughter of John Benjamin EBBETT and Alice Theresa SHAW.

John Merrylees FLEMING and Rose Margaret EBBETT had the following children:

+ 3 ii. William Ross FLEMING was born 21 Nov 1940.
