8. Richard Cary² CHECKLEY (George¹) was born in Daventry, Northants 6 Apr 1820. Richard died 29 June 1883 at 63 years of age.

He married twice. He married Eliza CHRISTOPHER in St Dunstans Church, Stepney, London., 26 Aug 1838. Eliza was born 1807. Eliza was the daughter of Joseph CHRISTOPHER. Eliza died 12 Dec 1854 at 47 years of age. He married Susan Caroline WARD in St John the Baptist, Shoreditch, 28 Jul 1855.

Richard Cary CHECKLEY and Eliza CHRISTOPHER had the following children:

10 i. Caroline³ CHECKLEY was born in Middlesex, England 25 Jul 1846. Caroline died 12 Sep 1923 at 77 years of age. Her body was interred in Palmerston North Cemetery, New Zealand.. She married twice. She married Thomas CRAWFORD in R.Catholic Church, Christchurch, New Zealand, 15 Jan 1867. (See Thomas CRAWFORD for the continuation of this line.) She married Charles RYEL in Ashburton, 16 May 1883. Charles died 2 Jun 1891 in Temuka River. (See Charles RYEL for the continuation of this line.)

11 ii. Alfred Richard CHECKLEY was born 31 Dec 1852. Christened in Old Church, St Pancras, London, 3 Aug 1856.

12 iii. Emily Susan CHECKLEY was born 24 May 1854. Christened in Old Church, St Pancras, London., 3 Aug 1856.
